  3.     I enjoyed reading Robert Hughes' critique of the paintings
  4. of Thomas Hart Benton (ART, May 1). But I must say I winced at
  5. his rather negative assessment, because I have always liked the
  6. artist and considered him a kindred spirit. Nevertheless, I will
  7. admit that I think Hughes' analysis is correct.
